As new technology gains widespread publicity among the general public, the business applications it has grows immensely. A clear cut example of this is the recent popularity of text messaging. A recent survey showed that teenagers in America were sending and receiving as much as an average of 80 text messages a day. Hence, it is no surprise that businesses from restaurants to retail establishments are trying to find ways to integrate this technology into their business practices and marketing plans.

One of the most exciting applications of this technology to business, is its marketing potential. Text messaging allows you to instantly alert tens of thousands of targeted individuals with any marketing messages you may have. It is only a matter of time until someone creates a viable business model around this concept.

We now allow students to not only e-mail and call in questions, but also text their questions directly to their tutors. It is a simple application and a step in the right direction. We are currently looking for better ways to market our products and services via texting without being too intrusive.
