Wood finishing refers to the process of embellishing and/or
protecting the surface of a wooden material. The process starts with
surface preparation, either by sanding by hand (typically using a
sanding block or power sander), scraping, or planing. Imperfections or
nail holes on the surface may be filled using wood putty or pores may
be filled using wood filler. Often, the wood's colour is changed by
staining, bleaching, ammonia fuming and a number of other techniques.
Some woods such as pine or cherry do not take stain evenly, resulting
in "blotching". To avoid blotching, a barrier coat such as shellac or
"wood conditioner" is applied before the stain. Gel stains are also
used to avoid blotching

Mr. Sandless Franchise LLC Floor :“I
wanted to thank you for the job your company performed at the Keystone
Center last weekend. The hardwood floors at the Center were extremely
dirty, damaged and in a state of ugliness! Your service brought back
the floors to their original condition. The hardwood floors are
original and were first installed over 80 years ago. The floors look
brand new. Your crew did a great job of working around our schedule and
making certain that there was no disruption with our operation and
patient service.” - Kevin Williams, General Manager KeyStone Center,

Mr. Sandless Franchise LLC Sanding

Description

Shabby chic items are often heavily painted with many layers
showing through obviously worn areas. The style is imitated in faux
painting using glaze or by painting then rubbing and sanding away the
top coat to show the wood or base coats. Fabrics tend to be cottons and
linens, with linen being particularly popular, inspired by old French
linens. Whites and worn or bleached out pastels are favorite colours.
Fabric is often stained with tea to give it the look of old fabric.
Bleached and faded are terms often applied to the style.

The essence of shabby chic style is vintage and antique furniture
painted white (or another soft pastel color) and distressed at the
corners by sanding.

Popular decor items are pillows made of vintage barkcloth fabric,
vintage linens, chenille bedspreads, vintage chandeliers, and anything
with roses on it. It is a soft, relaxed feminine romantic way of
decorating that looks comfortable and inviting. Also called cottage
style.

Lamella

The lamella is the face layer of the wood that is visible when installed. Typically it is a sawn piece of timber.

The timber can be cut in three different styles: flat-sawn,
quarter-sawn, and rift-sawn. However, because only one side of the wood
is visible on flooring, "quarter-sawn" and "rift-sawn" will have the
same appearance.

About Mr. Sandless Franchise LLC :

Distressing in the decorative arts is the activity of making a
piece of furniture or object appear aged and older, and there are many
methods to produce an appearance of age and wear. Distressing is viewed
as a refinishing technique although it is the opposite of finishing in
a traditional sense. In distressing, the object's finish is
intentionally destroyed or manipulated to look less than perfect, such
as with sandpaper or paint stripper. For example, the artisan often
removes some but not all of the paint, leaving proof of several layers
of paint speckled over wood grain underneath. This becomes the
"finished" piece.

Distressing has become a popular design style and decorative art
form. The artisan attempts a rustic, attractive, one-of-a-kind
appearance or vintage look. The final appearance is often called the
patina.

Distressing can be applied to a variety of surfaces and materials
such as wood, glass, metal, plastic, stone, concrete, plaster, and
paint. The Shabby chic style has made both distressing and antiquing
popular
