Should You Repair or Replace your AC unit in Florida?

Like most mechanical machines – air conditioners aren’t made to last your entire lifetime. Although regular ac maintenance
can prevent your unit from failing on you, sometimes having it replaced
may come out cheaper for you.  An outdated system may not only be more
costly to maintain but it may also be harming you more than helping.
Consider the following facts about your outdated system:

  • Out of warranty means costly repairs
  • Circulates as much dust around the house as air
  • Unbalanced airflow makes it harder to cool rooms

“It doesn’t make sense to put several hundred dollars in repairs
into equipment that might already be too old or which already has had
lots of expensive breakdowns in the past,” says Randy Novak, president
of Novak Heating and Air Condition. SEER stands for “seasonal energy efficiency
rating” and is a measure of a central air conditioner’s efficiency and
performance. To be considered a high-efficiency unit, today’s systems
have to possess a rating higher than 10 SEER. Shoppers in Florida
should focus their attention on units that are up to date and designed
to work with the next generation of eco-friendly air conditioning
systems.
